Kim, Let me know how these e-cises go and if you notice a difference in your breathing after doing them - both right away and how you feel when you exercise. Another good thing to focus on is breathing through your nose. Try nasal breathing only when exercising - it's great for those breathing muscles and lowers stress hormones!

I DID notice a difference right away after devoting some time to the moves. I give them to my students in yoga class too. I think I am trying too hard to get the diaphragmatic breath when I exercise and I'm inhibiting the movement of the muscle itself while I"m taking stock of how I'm breathing. I know it will take a little time, and dedication. From being an instructor I know how important the breath is to my whole experience of life including the hormones :) Thank you!!! 10/28/2016 11:32:27 am
Kim, I'm glad you noticed a difference in your breathing after doing these exercises! Remember the human body, when functional, is designed to work without conscious effort -- including breathing. Children never think about how they breath and breath beautifully, fully using their diaphragms. When you exercise the best thing to do is stay relaxed and focus on slightly deep and slightly slow breathes. Don't put too much effort into it and don't try to make them really deep, or really slow, etc. Let it be natural. The more you improve your posture and function, the better your breathing will get without effort or thought. That's the best way. Your body will thank you. Let me know how it goes.

It is amazing! I've been in pain for 5 years and worked with other therapists and no one has been able to help me. Working with you I am 95% pain free! It feels so good to not have any pain and be able to walk and do things I haven't been able to do for years. Thank you so much! - Joni |
